CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

The Wirehaired Dachshund Club held its
Championship Show at Ryton on Dunsmore, Coventry.

The Judges Were

Jean Blandford was given
her first Smooth Dachshund in 1943 by her mother who had bred them since
the late 1920's. A daughter of this was mated to a miniature and
several generations later, Ch Flaunden Senator was bred. He was used
on Granta miniatire wires and most miniature wires today go back to
Senator. Amongst the Champions owned were Ch. Flaunden Wimpole
Street, Ch Flaunden Wandering Star Ch Flaunden the Whit House, Ch Flaunden
Whatnot and Ch Flaunden My Whippey. Jean first awarded CC's in 1963,
and has since awarded over 80 sets in all six varieties of Dachshunds as
well as in Deerhounds and Elkhounds. She has had judging
appointments in South Africa, Australia, Eire and Germany at Championship
Show Level. during her showing career Jean has won over 100 CC's
with Dachshunds Deerhounds and a Whippet and was the first to breed
Champions in all three coats of Miniature Dachshunds. Jean also
served on the Wirehaired Dachshund Club Commitee for many years.

Gerry Mc Faul has been showing
Dachshunds, mostly in Ireland where he has made up seven
Champions. He campaigned Ch Glasvey Liliac to both English and
Irish titles and bred Ir Ch Dachville First Lady, which along with
others he has shown in the UK, have gained KC Stud book numbers.
Ch & Ir Ch Pattaya Offenbach (Simon) also campaigned by Gerry was
three times top Hound in Northern Ireland and in 1996 was top show dog
in Rep of Ireland. This year Simon won the title of Northern
Ireland Veteran of the Year. Gerry's first Championship Show
appointment was in 1991 awarding Green Stars in all varieties of
Dachshund. He has also judged Hound Groups at Championship Show
level and first awarded CC.s at the Southern Dachshund Show in 2000 for
Standard Longs. He has judged at breed club shows in five
occasions. |

Anne Mathers first Wirehaired
Dachshund was Lesandnic Lorrydriver in 1984, He was made up to an Irish
Champion. Just two litters were bred and from them came only two
puppies were shown. One became an Irish Champion, the other was Ch
Metewand Tatu. Anne has judged since 1973 and now judges all
hounds at Green Star Level including Best in Show at the Hound Association
of Northern Ireland. She awards in Afghans and Wirehaired
Dachshunds, her first appointment being in 1987. Appointments held
include Secretary of the Hound Club of Northern Ireland and the Afghan
Hound Society of Northern Ireland. She has held various offices with
the Bangor & North Down Canine Society for the past fifteen
years. She was also Chairman of the Northern Ireland Whippet Club
for eleven years. In all Anne has been office for the past 30 years
and feels that she has served her time. |
